Top 7 Homemade Sauce Recipes That You Should Try For Sure


Hello everyone! I am here with few homemade sauce recipes. The article covers the making of Eggless Mayonnaise, Egg Mayonnaise, Cheese Sauce, Pasta/Tomato Sauce, Schezwan Sauce, Garlic Sauce and Pesto Sauce.

1. Eggless Mayonnaise


  • Chilled Milk – ½ cup
  • Oil – 1 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Vinegar – 1 tsp
  • Black pepper powder – ¼ tsp


1. In a blender, add all the ingredients and start blending till it thickens. It will take around minutes to thicken.
Note: The milk should be chilled to prepare this, else the milk will separate and form curd-like substance.mayonese image showing alt text

2. Mayonnaise (Egg)


  • Egg – 1
  • Garlic cloves – 2~3 (crushed and chopped)
  • Salt to taste
  • Sugar – 1 tsp
  • Oil – nearly 1 cup
  • Vinegar – 1 tsp
  • Black pepper powder – ¼ tsp
  • Mustard paste/powder a pinch
  • Lemon juice – 1 tsp


  1.  To a blending jar, add egg, salt, sugar, vinegar, black pepper powder, mustard powder, lemon juice.
  2. Blend for 1 minute.
  3. Add 1 tsp of oil and blend for 1 minute.
  4. Repeat the above step till you obtain a thick consistency.
Note: You may require nearly a cup of oil. You can first heat the oil, then cool it and use it while blending. This will remove the raw smell of oil.

3. Cheese sauce

This cheese sauce can be used to make pasta, lasagne and few more dishes. This sauce is also called Alfredo sauce and Béchamel sauce.


  • Butter – 1 tbsp
  • Oil – 1 tsp
  • Flour – 2 tbsp
  • Salt – to taste
  • Milk – 2 to 3 cups
  • Sugar – 1 tsp
  • Oregano – ¼ tsp
  • Mixed herbs – ¼ tsp
  • Cheese – 2 to 3 tbsp


  1. In a hot pan, add butter, oil and let it melt.
  2. Add the plain flour and whisk it.
  3. Slowly add the milk and keep whisking so that no lumps are formed.
  4. Add salt, sugar, Oregano, mixed herbs, stir it properly.
  5. You may add 2-3tbsp of grated cheese (optional)
  6. Check for the seasoning and add salt if required.
  7. The Cheese sauce is ready.

4. Tomato sauce

This sauce can be used in making pasta, pizza, lasagne etc.


  • Water – 4 cups
  • Tomatoes – 5 to 6
  • Garlic – 6 to 7 (chopped)
  • Onion – 3 (chopped)
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Salt – to taste
  • Sugar – 1 tsp
  • Red Chilli powder – ½ tsp


  1. Remove the eye of the tomato, make criss cross on the base of it.
  2. Boil water in a vessel, add salt to it, now add the criss crossed tomatoes to the boiling water.
  3. Let it simmer for another 5 to 10 minutes.
  4. Remove the tomatoes, let it cool and peel off the skin.
  5. Chop them roughly and keep aside.
  6. To a pan, add butter/oil, add the chopped garlic and let it brown slightly.
  7. Add chopped onions and saute till it gets translucent.
  8. Now add the tomatoes, salt, red chili powder, sugar.
  9. Saute for 5 minutes.
  10. If you like the sauce to be chunky, let it be as it is.
  11. Else you may cool the prepared chunky sauce and grind it to a smooth paste.
  12. You can reheat it by adding very little oil in a pan and add the ground paste, add half a cup of water, let it simmer.
  13. Voila! The required tomato sauce is ready to be served.

5. Schezwan sauce

This schezwan sauce can be used in preparing schezwan fried rice, schezwan chicken and many more innovative recipes.


  • Dry Red Chillies – 10
  • Garlic cloves – ½ cup (chopped)
  • Ginger – ½ inch (chopped)
  • Vinegar – ½ cup
  • Onion – 1 (chopped)
  • Salt – to taste
  • Water – 1 cup
  • Oil – 2 tbsp


  1. In a pan, add water, red chillies and bring it to a boil. Let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  2. Drain it. Reserve the water for later use.
  3. Let the chillies cool and grind it to a smooth paste.
  4. In another pan, add oil of your choice.
  5. To it, add chopped garlic and chopped ginger. Saute till the garlic turns light brown.
  6. Add chopped onions and add a pinch of salt so that the onions cook faster.
  7. When the onions turn translucent, add the ground Chilli paste, half cup of the reserved water.
  8. Let the sauce simmer for some time.
  9. Add salt, black pepper and sugar. Stir well and add vinegar, stir and let it thicken slightly.
  10. The Schezwan sauce is ready to serve.

6. Garlic sauce

This sauce can be served with fried chicken or grilled chicken. This is an ideal dip for all occasions unless you cannot bear the smell of garlic.


  • Garlic Cloves – 10 to 12
  • Salt – to taste
  • Black Pepper powder – to taste
  • Lemon juice – 4 tbsp
  • Oil – ¼ cup (nearly)


  1. To a blender, add cloves, salt, black pepper powder, lemon juice and blend it to a paste.
  2. Gradually add oil, 2 tsp at a time and keep blending.
  3. The sauce thickens. If the Sauce tastes too sharp, you may add little more lemon juice to balance the sharpness of garlic.

7. Pesto sauce

This sauce can be used in making pasta. It can also be used in flavouring of various dishes, example hummus.


  • Basil leaves – 2 cups
  • Garlic cloves – 5 to 8
  • Salt – to taste
  • Pepper – to taste
  • Pine nuts or walnuts (optional) – handful
  • Oil (preferably olive oil) – ½ cup
  •  Parmesan Cheese (grated) – ½ cup


  1. In a processor, add basil leaves, garlic cloves, walnuts / pine nuts, salt and pepper.
  2. Blend it to a paste.
  3. Gradually, add oil slowly. You will notice the paste will get smoother and thicker.
  4. Remove in a bowl and garnish with parmesan cheese.
